Mountain Eco Management
The site is an environmental management success story. Until 2003 Curry's Mountain Estate was a generally un-managed property. Now, vegetation communities are prospering, particularly on the top mountain which has not been inhabited by stock for over a decade, and where integrated weed management techniques have been utilised to help regenerate bush communities. A fire trail system allows access to manage this expansive area, which is also linked with many walking trails which cross cross through the differing vegetation communities. Kevin Mills a local botanist has completed an ecological study which has identified 4 main vegetation communities, some species have been identified as significant in the area. At least 200 species were identified in study.
The site is used as a educational resource with Universities, TAFE and private colleges utilising site for environmental studies.
Micro bat research, a monotypic genus of Australian Australian funnel-web spiders containing the single species Illawarra wisharti is found on site. A variety of native fauna also call Currys home lyrebirds, wombats wallabies are common sightings. in 2018 a national parks and wildlife scientific licence was granted to the property thus enabling for the collection and propagation of species for distribution through landcare and other NGOs.
